Furniture For Outdoor Areas

Contract furniture for outdoor areas faces a unique challenge. Not only do the normal requirements of durability and practicality still apply – furniture also has to withstand the elements. Aluminium chairs and tables are often used because they’re very durable, but they can become very hot in the summer and scorch unsuspecting customers! Outdoor furniture on the continent is often placed under shade so that diners can eat in complete comfort, but this is something UK cafes and bars often overlook.

Fabric is not a good choice for outdoor furniture. Rain will make it dirty and shabby within days and natural hazards like bird dirt are very off-putting to customers.

Wood is often a good choice of material because it retains a median temperature far better than aluminium does. It also withstands rain almost as well, especially if it’s treated before use. The main downside is that it’s a heavy material and difficult to move around, but in a garden setting it looks far better than a modern alternative.
